Decorating the nursery is something most moms look forward to and enjoy. However, when faced with making choices about which furnishings and bedding to purchase, that enjoyment can turn to confusion. If you haven’t yet begun to shop or even if you have and are already overwhelmed by the huge selection available, here are a few ideas to help you to narrow down the bedding choices to a reasonable number.

The first idea is simply to choose baby bedding based on gender. While that may seem obvious, when faced with all the different style and color choices, it’s sometimes easy to get distracted. You can be happily shopping for the perfect crib bedding for a baby boy and suddenly realize you have wasted time looking at really cute pink bedding sets. Choosing by gender narrows the field somewhat but still leaves a very large number of bedding sets to choose from.

To narrow the number of choices even further, you can select bedding based on style. As with adult bedding, most baby bedding can be categorized into traditional/classic, modern/contemporary or transitional styles. Choosing bedding based on gender and then further narrowing the choices to the particular decorating style you prefer, will give you a range of selections that might not be so overwhelming.

This range of selections can be narrowed down even further by selecting a theme. Now there are quite a few themed bedding sets available some created just for girls, some just for boys and others that are gender neutral. Some popular choices for a girl are princess, dragonfly and butterfly bedding sets. For boys farm, cars and trucks, and sports baby bedding are a few favorites.

If you have narrowed your choices this far and still have too many to choose from, one last idea is too choose based on color. This should leave you with just a handful of bedding sets to choose from and make that final decision much easier.
