A Siberian Husky and a Dog Bed
Luke was very domesticated Siberian Husky. Spoilt rotten by his owner Joyce.
Luke didn’t have a dog bed as such. He had a duvet: a beautiful multicoloured effort to match the one on Joyce’s own bed.
Luke loved his duvet. He never chewed it. Nor did he do anything so downbeat or undignified as peeing on it. Luke loved his bedding so much he dragged it behind him all around the house and into the car when he was taken on anything but the shortest outing.
But he didn’t always lie on it. In fact he seldom lay on it. That duvet was a multi-purpose object from which he derived enormous pleasure tossing in the air, rolling around on it and burying himself beneath it.
His duvet lasted Luke for the whole twelve years of his life and when he was no longer around, the duvet was passed on to (and shared by) the two rescued Irish greyhounds who succeeded him.
