Check with your doctor to see if you can be tested for perimenopause, especially if you suspect that you are undergoing that process. It’s entirely possible that your symptoms are due to being pregnant, or having thyroid disease, so your doctor would do well to perform those tests as well.

If you’re negative on both of those diagnoses, have your physician check your blood for estrogen levels; if it’s starting to decrease, chances are you are experiencing menopause. FSH, or follicle stimulating hormone, is another thing to check for; as it helps the ovaries produce estrogen, and will tell you if you’re entering menopause. If you’re producing more FSH than normal, your level of estrogen is beginning to bottom out. Don’t hesitate to check in with the doctor for these tests, so you can find out whether you’re having symptoms of menopause.
