It’s true; athletes are always on a quest to jump higher; of course it depends on the sport. Swimmers, for example, don’t have any need for jumping and the same could be said for boxers. There are, however, a few sports where jumping high is advantageous, sometimes absolutely necessary. Obviously basketball is one sport where being able to perform a vertical jump leads to being a great player. High-jumpers, in track and field, would no doubt welcome the ability to do a vertical jump also. Naturally, before anyone is able to jump in this way, they needs to lose body fat and a lot of it. Volleyball players are constantly jumping and it would appear that the best jumpers are placed in the front row, while the smaller players are in the second row. The three sports mentioned all require the athlete to be fit, agile and know how to lose body fat. The players themselves know that having too much excess fat could be the end of a professional career. They therefore go to great lengths to make sure that their body weight is never a problem. Let’s face it, being kicked off a team because you were always late for practice or were too aggressive is a damn sight better than being booted for having a beer belly.

It is mainly basketball and volleyball players that need to the ability to perform a vertical jump. I would hazard a guess that slam-dunking a basketball and winning an important game is every pro’s ambition. The same could be said for volleyball players; being able to block an attack from the opposing team with a vertical jump is the name of the game. I wonder if it is possible for a person, who is not a tall person and carries too much body weight to be able to perform one of these jumps if they haven’t made an effort to lose body fat and practice jumping. When you are looking for your next exotic golf holidays, Caribbean and Pacific regions would be one of the best to explore. There are some great golf resorts on the Caribbean islands of Bahamas, Bermuda or St. Lucia; however there are none on the beautiful islands of San Andres y Providencia.

In the Pacific, great golf and the convenience of Oahu come in only one package, and a beautiful one it is —the Sheraton Makaha Resort and Country Club, a 30-minute drive from the airport. It’s a bit cooler here than at the beach and absolutely lovely. Several clusters of attractive two-story cottages house the 200 guest rooms, each with a private lanai overlooking the course or back to the Pacific.

The poolside Patio is an ideal breakfast spot before teeing off. And the Kaala Room (dinner only) has an excellent continental menu. Between times the West Course, a William P. Bell design, 7,252- yarder with 70 sand traps and nine water hazards, beckons. Most say that the fifth hole is the most difficult, a 460-yard par four with a tough dog-leg right to a small trapped green. Watch out for the ninth, though. It takes a well-placed 147-yard tee shot over water to reach the centre of a well-bunkered, undulating green.

Guests also may play the Makaha Valley East Course, a few steps away but separately owned. It is shorter (6,197 yards), hillier, less challenging, with much lower green fees. For beach lovers the hotel provides a shuttle service to Makaha Beach (home of the annual Makaha International Surfing Championships) where it has changing facilities, rest rooms, backrests and towels. Back at the hotel there are four lighted tennis courts, an equestrian centre, a one-mile physical fitness course, bicycle rentals and a mini-playground. For those hankering after night life there’s a shuttle to Waikiki.

Where is the masters golf tournament?

The Masters is held every year at Augusta National in Georgia and has become one of the most prestigious tournaments in all of golf. Golfers train their whole lives just to have a chance at playing at Augusta and it has been a dream of many golfers to one day play at Augusta. This major championship is different compared to the others as the Masters is one of the hardest tournaments to get into. The tournament is always held at Augusta National and will continue to be one of the most important tournaments this year.

The probable winners this year

The 2012 Masters will be one of the most exciting tournaments this year because of all of the talent that will be there this year. All of the best golfers will be on hand to showcase all of the training that they have been doing for the past months. Jason Day will be one of my favorites this year as he is definitely due to win a major as a young hotshot on the tour. Another great player in the field will be Rickie Fowler, as he is one of the best young golfers in the field this year.

Some of the best veterans will also be at Augusta as Ernie Els and Tiger Woods are always in the field and will always be in the hunt during the weekend. Tiger Woods has been trying to overcome a few injuries and it seems like it is time that they finally make the comeback that they have been long due for. The Masters is a chance for golfers all over the world see their favorite golfers go head to head at golfs greatest golf course. Augusta national is always a challenge for the players and depending on the weather, the scores can be quite high for a major event.

I would not be surprised if the winning score is around even par if the winds will be blowing and the greens are fast. If you are a golf fan and love to play the game, then you will definitely be entertained while you watch golf’s greatest at the toughest course in America. Augusta National will be the center of attention and people from all over the world will have their eyes on the greatest tournament in golf. No matter who wins, the real winner for the weekend is the Augusta National golf course.

How is the National Football League Schedule Decided?

Of the many sports played in the United States, the National Football League (NFL) has some of the most loyal and enthusiastic fans. In the United States alone, the sport competes favorably with other well-known spectator games like baseball, soccer, tennis and NASCAR racing. For some fans, in a bid to follow their favorite team’s ascent up the ranks, having or memorizing the entire NFL schedule becomes a thing of interest. This article is for someone that wants to know how this schedule is decided as well as a little background history on the National Football League.

Initially known as the American Professional Football Association, the NFL was formed in 1920 and the new title formally adopted in 1922, which remains to this day. There are two major divisions or conferences – the American Football Conference and National Football Conference. The popular acronyms are AFC and NFC respectively. Each conference is made up of 16 teams making up a total of 32 teams in the entire league. This is how it was originally designed and these numbers have not changed over the years.

There is a football season every year and a schedule for game play has to be drawn up beforehand. This is how it is decided.

In the first stage, or the divisional round games, each team plays two games in their division.

Stage two consists of each team being required to play 4 other teams within their respective conferences. This stage is popularly known as the inter-conference rotation games.

In stage three, each team in a division plays the four teams in a division in the other conference, also referred to as the intra-conference rotation games. So far the total amount of games played amounts to fourteen.

In the final stage, two games (one home, one away) are played against teams with the same standing from the two remaining divisions within a team’s conference. This brings the total count to 16 games.

This is complicated but effective way, as designing a game play schedule has a few variations with each season. For instance, the intra-conference games of 2008 each team in the NFC North played each team in the NFC South, which is not what was done in subsequent seasons.

It should also be added that the schedule is not released until spring of each year. This is only a few months off the start of the season because the NFL needs a lot of time to coordinate the entire season.

The Perfect Basketball Hoop For Me

The quality of basketball game that you can play is dependent on the quality of the hoop that you can get. I have been building backyard courts as a contractor for more than twenty years so I can really say that I have some knowledge when it comes to the different basketball systems that are being offered in the market today. I have listed here some of the things that make a good basketball system for me:

Safe- Safety comes first always. That is a lesson that I keep in mind when I work and apply it too when I play. The hoops that I install on the courts that I work on are all safe. I stay away from unstable basketball systems that can prove to be hazards to the players who are using them. I also make sure that the hoops that I install have adequate padding and guard so that when players accidentally hit them no serious damage or injury will result.

Durable- The best hoops for me are the ones that can last for many years without breaking down. There are basketball systems that are so loaded with features that they look so great when they are brand new, but they won’t last a year until some part breaks down. I want a hoop that is made from durable and non corrosive materials.

Right Features- I stay away from basketball systems that are filled with all kinds of modern ideas and features. When those features contribute something to the game then that is okay but when they don’t then they are just added weight and they do nothing for me.

Affordable- I never ask my customers to get a really expensive hoop when there are more affordable ones. From what I have experienced hoop quality is not really dependent on its price.

Options When Hitting a Forehand

First you need to assess the different options available to you. You can hit a traditional forehand that involves stepping into the ball or you can hit an open stance forehand.
