While I was researching on the Internet for my exterior house shutter the other day, I kept coming across two conflicting views on what the best type of material was for shutters that will be put on the outside of your house. On one side of the fence, people were saying that vinyl was the way to go. Their argument was that vinyl is a lot cheaper to purchase, and will last a lot longer than wood.

On the other side are the traditionalists, who swear that wood is the only material that should ever be used for house shutters. They say that the natural insulation and the traditional charm that they add to your house are well worth the extra price. I can see both sides of the argument as being valid, but it really doesn’t help me in my decision. I’m leaning towards wood at the moment, just because I think it would suit my home more than vinyl.
