Dehydrated Compared with Freeze Dried Food Storage
For people that make it their job or hobby to try different new places that require them to carry a lighter load without any exposure to home kitchen equipments or fast food chains, processed foods are the best solutions they could carry. Processed food includes the dehydrated items and the freeze dried food storage products. While both products are patronized by many people, there are plenty of differences between the two, which might help people decide what food to bring in their next excursion.
Dehydrated items undergo heating process wherein it is subjected to direct sunlight or hot air drying. These products are popular snacks and ingredients for cooking since it can be stored for a long period. Because of the minimal process and fewer equipment the drying needs, dehydrated foods cost lower. With a lower price comes the difference in taste and nutritional value. Dehydrated products do not have the same taste as the original food. It also has a different texture and the nutrients, minerals and vitamins are diminished. Because of its lower price and it is easy to carry and consume, some people still prefer this process even though the flavor and nutrient content is compromised.
At Daily Bread, they offer the freeze dried process for food storage, which locks in the original flavor and nutritional value. The items undergo the flash freezing process that retains the state of the product before it was processed. All the flavor, minerals, vitamins, and nutrients are still intact even after months of storage. Because of the process and the obvious health benefits as well as retention of the original flavor, the freeze dried products cost higher than the dehydrated ones. Choosing processed food, which people can carry during their trips or vacations is important to prevent food poisoning or contamination especially if they are traveling to remote areas.
