Demand For LPN Programs

Demand for the services of qualified licensed practical nurses, often referred to as LPN’s in currently high. According to the US Bureau of Labor statistics, not only is there high demand now but the demand is expected to continue to increase in each year up to at least 2016. This presents a real and current problem for many nursing homes and community medical facilities as they are having increasing difficulties in attracting the right candidates for their job vacancies.

The response to this demand has been for a sharp increase in the number of LPN programs that are being run by nursing schools. Also the wages that a typical LPN can expect is rising too. LPN programs are having to become increasingly flexible and there are many alternatives to the traditional class based teaching approach including the introduction of online LPN programs.
