If you need to fix a printer jam, here are some quick steps to get it done.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from its power source.  You really don’t want to be electrocuted.
  2. Visually inspect the printer from the outside without opening it up and see if you can see any of the jammed printer paper.
  3. If the printer paper is jammed inside the printer, open up the printer using the available access panels.
  4. Pull out the jammed paper by firmly but not aggressively pulling it out.  If it’s jammed in the rollers, you can use them to help get the paper out by spinning them.
  5. Once all the paper is removed this way, turn the printer back on.
  6. If the it works like normal, you got rid of all the paper.  If it still says “error”, repeat steps 1 – 6.
  7. If you’re 100% certain all the paper is removed and the printer still says it’s jammed;  you need to contact the manufacturer for possible repairs.
