Cat owners everywhere know that the main necessity when owning a cat is to provide them with a litter box. Litter boxes need to be provided since this is where cats go to use the bathroom. However, litter boxes can become somewhat smelly and not to mention very unsightly when displayed openly in a beautiful home. For this reason, most cat owners hide the litter box in bathrooms or basements, away from guest’s open eyes. This gives pet owners comfort in knowing they don’t have to worry about guests coming across their cats litter boxes; however it doesn’t allow for the cat to bond with the family, since some cats are kept confined to the room where the litter box is. Thanks to ingenuity, cat owners will no longer have to worry about unsightly litter boxes and can keep them out in the open allowing cats to roam free in the house with the use of litter box furniture. Cat furniture allows for the litter box to be presented in plain sight, some furniture can even enhance the decor of the interior of the home.

There are many different styles available for litter box furniture all of which are designed to conceal the litter box within. Some types of furniture, such as the litter box cabinet, looks similar to cabinets found in the kitchen or bathroom, while others conceal the litter box in structures that look like tables or hampers. Regardless of the design, all of the cat furniture provides an opening in which cats can easily gain entry in and out of the litter box. Doors are provided to gain easy access to the litter box for cleaning.

Cat furniture is commonly made of wood, but some designs are made from plastic as well as wicker. Plastic and wicker designs allow for a larger array of colors such as purple or black, instead of having to stick with wood colors when using a design made from wood. Pet stores provide cat furniture, but there are less choices and designs; the advantage is, that the designs can be seen in person and that you will have an idea of how cat furniture works and looks like.

Coot Cats, Hot Dogs

“Our Place to Paws” is a website by and for animal lovers. What it is not, insist those who run it, is a place to argue the case of cat versus dog. Both animals are happily featured here, alongside other domestic animals and wild creatures.

They state their mission as being “to offer entertaining and informative articles about (and ‘by’) animals”. They want to give their visitors a chance to submit and share letters, stories, photos… and help animals by featuring various rescue centres and other non-profit animal-related organisations.

A thought: when it comes to cats vs. dogs why do we have cool cats but hot dogs? Come to that why should a sausage wrapped in a bread roll be called a hot dog, anyway? Suggestions welcome.
