When I went to buy a new stove I purposely avoided the clean-looking flat tops. I like the idea of them but I know you’re not supposed to use cast iron with them. That kind of stove isn’t going to work for me. My brother looked at me funny asking why I love my cast iron skillet so much.

I know it sort of looks like camping cookware and it is very heavy making it a little more difficult at times, but I still love my cast iron skillets. Once you have them seasoned they are wonderful; they make a great non-stick skillet. I never have a problem with things sticking or burning on the bottom, which also makes them very easy to clean (just don’t use soapy water on them, it will ruin the non-stick coating). They also distribute heat evenly, they cook wonderfully and I can put them in the oven. They don’t scratch, get beat up or warp and they still look and feel like they did 20 years ago. I wouldn’t give them up for anything.
