Window treatments are a must have if we choose to have a home that looks finished and organized. We can add a little effect to it if we use fabric shades. What we are going to center our discussion on cloth shades are not the type of materials we can use for it but the styles that we can have for our window coverings.

These are the various styles we can have for our fabric shades.

  • Roller style- this window technique is the earliest one that has been used and still considered as one of the trouble-free ways to put up a window shade. With the use of a roller, the shade will be able to go up and down easily. It is simpler this way because the styling of the fabric is not complicated. We can make the shades firm and laminated so that the installation process will be effortless. We can also add some decorations at the base by braiding it or painting the edges. This style is also called as Holland because the original use of this fabric style was made out of Holland linen.
  • Austrian or Cloud shades- Way back in the Rococo period or the 18th century of Europe, this type of fabric styling was commonly used. Today, we have the impression that it is very unruly and a waste of time for a window covering. We have to make a big effort just to give a layering effect on the windows. But if we get the right balance, this will ultimately look great on our homes.
  • Festoon styling- This is quite similar to the Austrian shade style but the difference lies on the width and length of the pleats. Festoon is wider and lengthier especially if we pull it down. Since the installation process of this looks a bit hard, putting some electric cables on them for the height adjustment will be a reliever.
  • Roman shades- Unlike the Austrian and Festoon shades, Roman shades are flatter and less troublesome. They are like the typical shades because with the help of a simple string, the work for light adjustment is done in a minute.
  • Style combination’s- We can lessen the trouble for the Austrian and Festoon by taking away a bit of the ridge effects on them just so it can be more appealing to use. For the roman shades, adding some pleats on them will also be a good idea.

Selecting a style for our fabric shades should be thought about because they just do not rest on the windows forever. We have the tasks of putting them up, changing them and installing them again. If the style we choose is not favorable to us then we better switch on to something that is doable.
