There are many different woods available that are beautiful, cost efficient and that provide a wonderful frame for a window. These types of shutters however are not functional (that is to say, just decorative) because they must be securely attached to a wall. If hung for use, Oak will pull away from the frame of the window very easily because of its weight. There are several types of wood that are used for shutters that are light, inexpensive, and at first glance appear to be the perfect wooden shutters for interior use. However, woods such as Cedar dent and scratch very easily and as they are used will develop scars easily.
